Lighting Guide

For Linea Grow Module & Vertical Modules

Introduction

Light influences growth speed, density and harvest consistency.

The Linea system works with both natural daylight and supplemental grow lighting. The right setup depends on where your modules are installed.

This guide outlines what works best and how to implement it cleanly. If you have specific questions, please contact us.

Window Installations

For Vertical Module and Linea Grow Module

Window installations use natural daylight. Both the Vertical Modules and the Linea Grow Module can be mounted directly to glass, allowing herbs and plants to follow natural light rhythms without supplemental equipment.

Growth is dependent on season, orientation to the sun and overall location, with stronger growth in brighter months and naturally reduced growth during winter.

Under-Cabinet Installations

Primarily for: Linea Grow Module

Under-cabinet installations benefit significantly from supplemental grow lighting. This produces denser microgreens and more consistent year-round harvest cycles.

Many kitchens already include under-cabinet lighting. Upgrading may be as simple as replacing existing LED strips with grow light LEDs, provided fittings are compatible.

Installation

A. Light Installation

Most grow light kits include mounting accessories including self-adhesive pads. These can be used to fix lights to the underside of the cabinet.

Position lights near the wall and directly above where the grow modules will be placed.

B. Powering the Lights

Lights require connection to a standard outlet via a cable. Worktop sockets can be used — run the cable up to the underside of the cabinet. Small flexible conduit or cable management clips can improve appearance where cables are visible.

Many kitchens have power points above cabinets. Cables can be run down the gaps behind units for full concealment. Some units have voids to the side, or sockets behind appliances can be used.

Frequently Asked Lighting Questions

Do I need specialist grow lights?

For under-cabinet installations or low-light environments, grow lighting is strongly recommended.

Is lighting included?

No. This allows flexibility depending on your kitchen configuration.

How many hours per day?

10-14 hours for microgreens. Window-based herbs follow natural daylight cycles.

How much does it cost to run grow lights?

A 5W grow light for a single Linea Grow Module costs approximately £0.50 per month when used for 12 hours per day (based on 30p/kWh). Running lights during off-peak tariff hours can reduce this further.
